Street Orphans and Little Dogs

One of my pieces for the new Ioway documentaries by the Rundles. I call it "Street Orphans and Little Dogs." In 1844-45, 14 Ioways were in Europe with Catlin. They did performances to make some money for back on the reservation. During the day, sometimes they'd take a ride around town to see the sights. They were shocked to see how many street orphans there were, at the same time there were rich ladies walking around with little dogs ignoring the kids. They didn't understand why there would be homeless kids, and why if the rich ladies wanted to mother something, why didn't they take those kids and raise them instead of the little dogs. It made no sense to the Ioways at all.
